Talks & Seminars By Plant-Based Doctors

Plant based diets prevent and reverse a wide variety of ailments: heart disease, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancer, gastro-intestinal diseases and autoimmune diseases. Among the doctors, some are general physicians (so they don't focus on any particular ailment). Others focus on specific ailments heart disease or diabetes. I tried to find one video per speaker that is both informative and entertaining.
Dr Neal Barnard
(Diabetes)

Dr Neal Barnard approaches the subject from the perspective of diabetes.

Dr Esselstyn is a former heart surgeon from Cleveland Clinic. His books, talks and workshops are focused on heart disease.

Food Guidelines: I couldn't find an article that outlines what exactly to eat. FAQ at Dr Esselstyn's website has some information.

Dr Dean Ornish
(Heart Disease)

Dean Ornish is the doctor who surprised the medical community in 1990 by demonstrating that heart disease could be reversed with merely lifestyle changes. Twenty years later, The Ornish Reversal Program came into being. This program targets heart patients and is covered by Medicare.

Book: The Spectrum (416 pages, 2008).

Cookbook: Dean Ornish published a cookbook in 1996. Plant-based diet guidelines have progressed since then. More recent cookbooks by other doctors are probably better.

Joel Fuhrman wrote a NYTimes Bestseller book 'Eat To Live' in 2011.

Michael Greger is popular for videos and articles peppered with information derived from hundreds of medical studies. His on-stage mannerisms and talking style make his videos both funny and informative. I love them! :)

Dr Gabriel Cousens
(General Practitioner)

The video above is the documentary (DVD) Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days (92 minutes, 2009). This documentary was made by Gabriel Cousens' Tree of Life Center in Arizona, USA. Six patients with diabetes were tracked for 30 days as they lived at the Tree of Life Center. They followed Cousens' diet guidelines and daily exercise routines. Within days, all patients improved dramatically.

More: Gabriel Cousens is a charismatic personality. I met him face to face in a talk he gave at Oakland. His face really glows! He is a physician, homeopath, family therapist, ayurvedic practitioner, chinese herbalist, Kundalini teacher, Jewish rabbi, shaman and Kabbalah student. He also studied at the Shaolin Temple in China. Wow!

Dr Colin Campbell
(Nutrition Studies)

Dr Cambell starts speaking at 8:00 mark in the video above. Much of his talk explains the relationships between protein, cancer and animal products.

Dr Alan Goldhamer

Dr Goldhamer is known for guided fasting. Patients typically fast for 5 to 40 days. His clinic in Santa Rosa is close to Dr McDougall's clinic.
