Next to the pullout along Bolinas-Fairfax Road, there is a sign for Mount Tamalpais Watershed. A short trail to Lily Lake is shown on the Tom Harrison Map. This trail is not drawn on the official Mount Tamalpais Watershed maps that are available online. In March 2012, Lily Lake was a swamp-like small lake reachable within 0.1 miles. Continuing about a quarter mile along an unmaintained trail, it was possible to reach the serene banks of Alpine Lake.

Location: along Bolinas Fairfax Road in Fairfax, CA 94930 . No street address. Parking area is visible in Google Maps if you zoom in sufficiently.

Directions: In Fairfax, go along Bolinas Road going west and drive 2.5 miles. Continue along Bolinas Fairfax Road and drive 3.6 miles to reach a pullout along the road. The trailhead is difficult to locate - study the contours of Google Maps for precise location. There is a sign for Mount Tamalpais Watershed near the trailhead.
