Route

Trailhead: McKay Ave parking lot.

Route: From the parking lot on McKay Ave, walk west along the levy for as long as you comfortably can (0.3 miles). The levy looks claw-shaped on the trail map. Return to McKay Ave (0.3 miles). Then continue walking in the south-east direction (2.2 miles). There are two ways to cover this distance: you may walk along the beach all the way to Park Street or you may walk along a paved bike trail next to Shoreline Drive. Return to McKay Ave (2.2 miles).

Notes:

  1. All along Shoreline Drive, there are several points to access the beach. So there are many options for the starting point of this walk.
  2. The beach extends for two miles from McKay Ave in the north to Park Street in the south. Beyond Park Street, there is a marshland and a protected area called Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary.
