Part 3 of the 32-mile East Bay Skyline National Recreation Trail, from Steam Trains Parking Lot on Lomas Cantadas (Tilden) to Skyline Gate (entrance for Redwood Regional Park). The hike goes through Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve and Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve in Oakland.

Route

Route in brief: From Steam Trains Parking Lot on Lomas Cantadas (Tilden) to Skyline Gate (entrance for Redwood Regional Park): Follow Bay Area Ridge Trial (East Bay Skyline) throughout until exits Huckleberry Preserve.

Notes: The portion of the hike through Sibley is quite pleasing. Most of the hike is shaded and single-trail. Could be muddy during rains.

Location: Lomas Cantadas & Grizzly Peak Blvd, Orinda, CA 94563 . Parking area is visible in Google Maps if you zoom in sufficiently.

Directions: From CA-24 East, take exit 7A toward Fish Ranch Road, then merge onto Old Tunnel Road (0.2 miles). Turn right onto Fish Ranch Road (0.8 miles). Turn right onto Grizzly Peak Blvd (1.1 miles) to reach Steam Trails parking lot for Tilden.
