Route

Route in brief: Figueroa Trail (0.2 miles) → Los Cerritos Trail (0.4 miles) → Pena Trail (0.8 miles) → Javelina Loop (1.1 miles) → connector (0.2 miles) → Cottle Trail (1.1 miles) → Chisnantuck Peak Trail (1.0 miles) → Bald Peaks Trail (1.4 miles) → Canada del Oro Trail (1.1 miles) → Figueroa Trail (1.4 miles).

Highlighted route: Thanks to Tom for highlighted route of this hike.

Notes: The hike has two steep climbs: 1 mile along Los Cerritos Trail and Pena Trail (500 ft elevation gain), and 2 miles along Chisnantuck Peak Trail and Bald Peaks Trail (1000 ft elevation gain). Most of the hike is in open. Great views of Silicon valley, Calero reservoir and green rolling hills after rains. We hiked in mid-March — we came across a few beds of wildflowers along this loop. The hike is described in detail by Tom Mangan here.
