Route

Route: From the Old Tunnel parking lot, follow Quarry Road → Volcanic Trail (0.8 miles) → Round Top Loop Trail → Bay Area Ridge Trail (BART) → Huckleberry Path → BART all the way back to parking lot near the trail head.

Notes:

  1. The route goes through Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve: Trail Map (Part I) and Trail Map (Part II).
  2. An alternative starting point for this hike is the "Staging Area" shown in the trail map for Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve. The trail head is on Skyline Blvd, Berkeley, CA, about 800 ft east of the intersection between Grizzly Peak Blvd and Skyline Blvd, Berkeley, CA.
Trailhead

Location: along Old Tunnel Road, Orinda, CA 94563 . No street address. Parking area is visible in Google Maps if you zoom in sufficiently.

Directions: From CA-24 East, take exit 7A towards Fish Ranch Road. Within 0.1 mile, mege onto Old Tunnel Road. In the Google map, you’ll notice a hair-pin bend in Old Tunnel Road. There’s a parking lot near the bend. Bay Area Ridge Trail (also called Skyline National Recreational Trail) goes through the hair-pin bend (see Trail Map for Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve for details).
