Hikes in Pearson-Arastradero Preserve
1 Jan 2012
A small park close to Highway 280 and Page Mill Rd with rolling hills. Lush green in spring. Provides access to the beautiful Foothills Park, which is otherwise accessible only to Palo Alto residents.

  1. All trails are in the open, so avoid summers. During rainy season, trails become muddy - many are closed temporarily.
  2. Foothills Park in Palo Alto is open only to Palo Residents. However, non-residents may access Foothills through Gate D shown at the bottom of the Arastradero Trail Map. Just follow Arastradero Creek Trail all the way to Gate D.
  3. Trail Conditions: Check trail conditions before you visit Arastradero Preserve. Snippet borrowed from park website in March 2010: Seasonal trails in the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve close any time rainfall exceeds one-half inch over 48 hours or 1 inch in seven days*. Trails are then evaluated for reopening after 48 hours of no rain and reopened only when dry. For daily trail condition updates, please check the bulletin board in the preserve parking lot, or call 650-329-2423 and ask for the latest trail conditions in the Pearson-Arastradero Preserve.
