Hikes in Wilder Ranch State Park
1 Jan 2012
Wilder Ranch is a park with ecologically diverse sections: forests, creeks, open spaces, beaches and bluffs! Highway 1 goes through the park. On the west of Highway 1 lies Ohlone Bluff Trail, which meanders next to Pacific Ocean and provides access to various 'secret' beaches. To the east of Highway 1 lies the main park with a variety of hiking and biking trails. You may combine trails from both sides of Highway 1 to form long interesting loops that take you through ecologically diverse regions of Wilder Ranch.

In July 2010, many intersections at Wilder Ranch were unmarked and some signposts were worn out. So it was a wee bit challenging to navigate. A good map is a must.

Wilder Ranch is criss-crossed by many hiking trails (see trail map). You can become creative and form your own loops. Shaded trails are Wild Boar Trail, Old Cabin Trail (fairly steep while going down a ravine), Woodcutter's Trail and portions of Chinquapin Trail.
