A spectacular hike along the Pacific Coast over bluffs and through beaches.
Location: Salt Point State Park
» Official Trail Map: Good map showing various trails including contours.
Book: We followed directions from the book Hiking the California Coastal Trail, Volume 1: Oregon to Monterey (2nd Edition, 320 pages, 2002) by Bob Lorentzen and Richard Nichols. Salt Point State Park is described in Sonoma County, Section 3 (pages 178—180) of the book.
Route: We actually started our hike from this trailhead, a dirt pullout. Its location is well described in the book "Hiking the California Coastal Trail, Volume 1: Oregon to Monterey", by Lorentzen and Nichols. The trailhead is located a little north of the trailhead for Grace Rock Trail that is shown in the official trail map. From the trailhead, we followed a well maintained trail for about half a mile, then followed instructions in the book for a cross-country hike for about half a mile to connect Grace Rock Trail. There were no signs or trail markers for the first mile of our route. From Grace Rock Trail onwards, we saw signs leading up to Fisk Mill Cove → Stump Beach Cove → Visitor Center.
Location: Along Highway 1 in Jenner, CA . No street address. Parking area is visible in Google Maps if you zoom in sufficiently.
