A fully shaded loop through redwoods in Phleger Estate. Almost half the route is next to a creek that has plenty of water after winter rains.
Location: Phleger Estate
» Official Trail Map: Good map showing various trails.
» Redwoodhikes Trail Map: Great map showing many parks like Purisima Creek, Huddart, Wunderlich, El Corte De Madera, Foothills, Hidden Villa and Rancho San Antonio. Trail maps for individual parks are available online for free. However, the RedwoodHikes map shows the big picture and is helpful for planning hikes that go through multiple parks.
The route is well-described here by Tom Mangan.
Section 1: Skyline Trail (0.4 miles) → Lonely Trail (1.9 miles) to reach a junction with Mount Redondo Trail and Raymundo Trail. This section of the hike (Skyline and Lonely) does not have good signs, so you would have to use some intuition and sense of direction.
Section 2: Loop around Mount Redondo Trail (0.8 miles) and Raymundo Trail (1.6 miles) to return to the same intersection.
Section 3: Return by Lonely Trail (1.9 miles) → Skyline Trail (0.4 miles).
Location: along Skyline Blvd, about 0.3 miles north of its intersection with Kings Mountain Road . No street address. Parking area is not visible in Google Maps.
