Year: 1980 Movie: Aap To Aise Na The Singer: Mohammad Rafi, Manhar, Hemlata Lyricist: Nida Fazli Music Director: Usha Khanna Lyrics: here
'Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Mein Shaamil Hai' is a composition that describes absorption in one's beloved. Even though this is not a Sufi or Bhakti composition, the opening lines and the first two stanzas can be interpreted as absorption in the Almighty or the Universe.
Other compositions on the theme of absorption in one's beloved:
Tu Is Tarah Se Meri Zindagi Mein Shamil Hai
Jaha Bhi Jaaoo Ye Lagta Hai Teri Mehfil Hai
Hindi
तू इस तरह से मेरी ज़िंदगी में शामिल है
जहाँ भी जाऊँ ये लगता है, तेरी महफ़िल है
Translation
You are a part of my life to such an extent that
wherever I go, I feel that there is a congregation in your honor.
Interpretation
The word 'mehfil' means assembly of people. 'Teri mehfil hai' means presence.
The poet says that he is so absorbed in his beloved that wherever he goes, he sees her.
Roman Script
Ye Aasmaan Ye Baadal Ye Raaste Ye Hawa
Har Ek Cheez Hai Apni Jagah Thikaane Pe
Kai Dino Se Shikaayat Nahi Zamaane Se
Ye Zindagi Hai Safar Tu Safar Ki Manzil Hai
Hindi
ये आसमान ये बादल ये रास्ते ये हवा
हर एक चीज़ है अपनी जगह ठिकाने पे
कई दिनों से शिकायत नहीं ज़माने से
ये ज़िंदगी है सफ़र तू सफ़र कि मंज़िल है,
Translation
These skies, these clouds, these pathways, these winds
Everything is perfect (in its right place).
For several days, I have had no grievances against the world.
This life is a journey. You are the destination of the journey.
Interpretation
Absorption or union is concomitant with contentment. The world appears perfect. Everything in the world is exactly as it should be. Such thoughts arise in the mind of a lover, with peace and joy in his heart.
Roman Script
Har Ek Phool Kisi Yaad Sa Mehekta Hain
Tere Khayal Se Jaagi Hui Fizaayein Hain
Ye Sabz Ped Hai Ya Pyar Ki Duaayein Hain
Tu Paas Ho Ki Nahi Phir Bhi Tu Mukabil Hai
Hindi
हर एक फूल किसी याद सा महकता है
तेरे खयाल से जागी हुई फ़िज़ाएं हैं
ये सब्ज़ पेड़ हैं या प्यार की दुआएं हैं
तू पास हो कि नहीं फिर भी तू मुकाबिल है
Translation
Every flower is fragrant like a memory.
With your memory is awake the pleasant breeze.
Are these green trees a blessing of love?
Whether you are near or not, you are in front of me.
Interpretation
When in love, everything in nature is awake, with everything reminding the poet of his beloved. Flowers, trees, the wind, the earth, the sky — all of these are seen as blessings. The physical presence of the beloved is unnecessary because the union is of the heart. The connection with the beloved is strong, with a feeling of oneness.
Roman Script
Har Ek Shay Hai Mohabbat Ke Noor Se Roshan
Ye Roshni Jo Na Ho Zindagi Adhoori Hai
Rah-e-Wafa Mein Koi Hamsafar Zaroori Hai
Ye Raasta Kahi Tanha Kate To Mushkil Hai
Hindi
हर एक शय है मुहब्बत के नूर से रोशन
ये रोशनी जो ना हो ज़िंदगी अधूरी है
राह-ए-वफ़ा में कोई हमसफ़र ज़रूरी है
ये रास्ता कहीं तनहा कटे तो मुश्किल है
Translation
Every activity is illumined by the radiance of love
But for this radiance, this life is incomplete.
In the path of love, a companion is necessary.
It is difficult to traverse this path alone.
Roman Script
Tere Bagair Jaha Mein Koi Kami Si Thee
Bhatak Rahi Thi Jawaani Andheri Raaho Mein
Sukoon Dil Ko Mila Aake Teri Baaho Mein
Main Ek Khoyi Hui Mauj Hoo, Tu Saahil Hai
Hindi
तेरे बगैर जहाँ में कोई कमी सी थी
भटक रही थी जवानी अंधेरी राहों में
सुकून दिल को मिला आ के तेरी बाहों में
मैं एक खोई हुई मौज हूँ तू साहिल है
Translation
Without you, there was something incomplete in the world.
Youth was wandering (lost) in dark pathways.
My heart found peace after coming into your arms.
I am a lost wave, you are the shore.
Roman Script
Tere Jamaal Se Roshan Hai Kaaynaat Meri
Meri Talaash Teri Dilkashi Rahe Baaki
Khuda Kare Ki Ye Deevangi Rahe Baki
Teri Wafa Hee Meri Har Khushi Ka Haasil Hai
Hindi
तेरे जमाल से रोशन है कायनात मेरी
मेरी तलाश तेरी दिलकशी रहे बाकी
खुदा करे की ये दीवानगी रहे बाकी
तेरी वफ़ा ही मेरी हर खुशी का हासिल है
Translation
With your radiance is illumined my world.
May my search (for you), my attraction (for you) remain forever.
May He ensure that my obsession remain forever.
Your love (honesty) is the end goal of every happiness of mine.
Interpretation
The last line appears odd to me. It connects 'wafa', 'khushi' and 'haasil'. I don't understand what it means.
