A variation of the regular route from Ohlone College: from Mission Peak, it continues along Peak Trail and Horse Heaven Trail, then climbs up again along Peak Meadow Trail, to form a lollipop shaped loop. Gorgeous valley views
To Mission Peak (3.5 miles): From the intersection of Mission Blvd and Pine St, then walk along the sidewalk parallel to Pine St until you a sign for Mission Peak Regional Preserve (0.3 miles). Then follow Peak Trail all the way to the summit (3.2 miles).
To Ohlone College (6.5 miles): From Mission Peak, continue along Peak Trail (0.3 miles) → continue along Horse Heaven Trail (1.6 miles) → right on Peak Meadow Trail (0.8 miles) → right on Ohlone Wilderness Trail (0.9 miles) → descend along Peak Trail (2.6 miles) to reach the Ohlone College trailhead for Mission Peak. Then walk further along Pine St (0.3 miles) to reach the intersection of Mission Blvd and Pine St.
There are several unmarked intersections along the route. So a trail map would be handy.
There is a restroom, conveniently located about 0.7 miles away from Mission Peak (see trail map for is location).
From I-880 North, take exit 12A and merge onto Mission Blvd toward Sacramento / I-680. Continue for 2.2 miles along Mission Blvd. Ohlone College lies at the intersection with Pine St. According to instructions here, you may park in lots M, N, O or P for fees collected at vending machines. For locations of these lots, see Map of Ohlone College. One may park on Mission Blvd itself, then walk 0.3 miles along Pine St to reach the trailhead for Mission Peak. There are signs along Pine St.
