Route in brief: Spikes Peak Road → South Boundary Trail → Canyon Loop Trail → Dinosaur Lake Trail
Notes: In April 2011, South Boundary Loop Trail was not in great shape. Grass had overgrown for several large section to the extent that we could not see the trail any more. Twice, we had to walk on hills to search for the continuation of the trail. Two to three signposts were missing or broken. We never felt lost because the 'Southern Park Fence' was clearly visible from afar. See EveryTrail link for this trip.
From Highway 101 in Gilroy, exit on Highway 152 and travel 24 miles east. Turn right (south) on Dinosaur Point Road and proceed 0.4 mile to the entrance for Pacheco State Park. Follow the park's short gravel road to a parking area and main trailhead.
Parking Fees: $5 per vehicle (last visited: April 2011)
