Route

Permit: Make sure you have a permit to hike along Ohlone Wilderness Trail. Permits are available at Sunol entrance kiosk and online.

To Mission Peak (5.3 miles): Walk along Ohlone Wilderness Trail (4.8 miles) → left on Peak Trail (0.5 miles) to reach Mission Peak. Fantastic, 360 degree views of various cities, highways, hills and San Francisco Bay!

To Stanford Ave (3.3 miles): From Mission Peak, continue along Peak Trail (0.3 miles) → right on Horse Heaven Trail (0.2 miles) to reach intersection with Grove Trail. Continue Horse Heaven Trail (1.5 miles) to reach intersection with Peak Meadow Trail. Continue along Peak Meadow Trail (1.3 miles) to reach Stanford Ave trailhead.

Start Location

Location: 1895 Geary Rd, Sunol, CA 94586 . Parking area is visible in Google Maps if you zoom in sufficiently.

Directions:

From Fremont: Drive north on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road. Turn right on Calaveras and proceed to Geary Road, which leads directly into the park.

From Oakland/Berkeley: Drive east on I-580 to the junction with I-680 in Pleasanton. At the junction, go south on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road/Highway 84 just south of the town of Pleasanton. Turn left onto Calaveras Road and proceed to Geary Road, which leads directly into the park.

From Walnut Creek/Danville: Go south on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road/Highway 84 just south of the town of Pleasanton. Turn left onto Calaveras Road and proceed to Geary Road, which leads directly into the park.

Location: 1880 Stanford Avenue, Fremont, CA . Parking area is visible in Google Maps if you zoom in sufficiently.

Directions: From I-880, take Mission Blvd exit towards Sacramento / I-680. After driving two miles along Mission Blvd, turn right onto Stanford Ave. Within 0.8 miles, there is a parking lot for Mission Peak.

Capacity: About 20 cars may be parked here. Plenty of parking along Stanford Ave and residential complexes nearby. Parking is usually tight due to the popularity of the park.
